Phil’s stage career started in the early !960’s as principal tenor in Carmen and since then he has undertaken principal tenor in 25 different operas, many more than once. He has performed in Birmingham, Derby, Nottingham, Sheffield, and Buxton in addition to many years at the Ripon Opera Summer School. Awards include three individual cups in the Midland Festival of Musical Theatre which ran in the early 70’s. Musicals and Oratorio have provided occasional breaks. For most of the time he has undertaken committee work, with long spells as treasurer or secretary in addition to concert manager and director. |
